Gov. Newsom’s Broken Promise On Homelessness

MICHELE STEEB: Gov. Newsom’s Broken Promise On Homelessness

By Senior Fellow for the Texas Public Policy Foundation Michele Steeb, via Daily Caller News Foundation Standing on an Oakland street flanked by legislative allies, California Gov. Gavin Newsom made a sweeping promise in 2021: California would eliminate family homelessness within five years. Backed by an unprecedented $75 billion budget surplus and $27 billion in federal stimulus, his administration committed $12 billion to the crisis, including $3.5 billion for housing units and rental subsidies. His strategy? Double down on Housing First—a one-size-fits-all policy California adopted in 2016 after the federal government’s 2013 embrace of it. Housing First promises permanent, taxpayer-funded housing with no expectations—no sobriety, no treatment, no work, ever. Somehow, the governor missed the glaring reality that under Housing First, homelessness in California exploded by 34%, and unsheltered homelessness by 47% between 2017-2021. Fast forward to 2025, and the devastation is even clearer. Family homelessness has surged 22%, and the number of homeless students has jumped 9% in just the last year. Spiraling Crisis Far from improving, the crisis facing California’s homeless families is spiraling further out of control. In 2021, I warned the Newsom Administration that its plan to end family homelessness was deeply flawed. Having spent 13 years leading Saint John’s Program for Real Change—Northern California’s largest residential program for homeless women and children—I knew firsthand that housing alone does not heal trauma, break addiction, or rebuild lives. Housing First’s failure as a one-size-fits-all approach to homelessness is undeniable. Yet Newsom continues to ignore the overwhelming evidence of failure, dismisses calls for reform, and deflects blame onto local governments while the crisis that has metastasized at his helm threatens an entire generation. Housing First Is A Myth Meanwhile, the bleak numbers behind Housing First tell only part of the story. The real devastation is written in broken lives and stolen futures. At Saint John’s, 78% of the women we served battled addiction, 70% endured domestic violence or mental illness, and half never completed high school. Nearly all carried deep, unhealed childhood trauma, reflected in staggering Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) scores. Many also struggled with anosognosia—a profound lack of self-awareness—leaving them unable to recognize the depth of their own struggles. Yet, under Governor Newsom’s Housing First mandate, these moms are handed nothing but a set of keys. Services to treat their addiction, trauma, and mental illness are optional, if available at all. It’s the policy equivalent of tossing a drowning person a life preserver riddled with holes, then walking away as they slip beneath the surface. (RELATED: California Dems Blame Wildfires On Trump After Their Party Created Tinderbox Of Regs) The result is a heartbreaking surge in homeless families and children whose safety, education, and futures are sacrificed to protect a failed political ideology instead of advancing real solutions. Newsom’s homelessness legacy has long roots and wide consequences. As San Francisco mayor, his “Care Not Cash” program spent $1.5 billion with no lasting reduction in homelessness. A 2021 state audit slammed California’s homelessness response as “uncoordinated,” and a 2024 report revealed the state spent $24 billion over five years with no consistent tracking of outcomes. This is not leadership. It is negligence. Homeless families deserve a real chance at stability. Taxpayers deserve accountability. California must stop clinging to a failed Housing First ideology and embrace a Human First approach that addresses the three core deficits driving and entrenching homelessness: lack of a support network, lack of income, and unaddressed trauma and addiction. (RELATED: Newsom Attacks Republicans On Violent Crime — Data Tell Different Story) For the vast majority struggling with homelessness, lasting change requires more than a roof. It demands active engagement—job training, mental health care, addiction recovery, financial literacy, and the rebuilding of positive community connections. True stability comes from participation, not passivity; from helping people heal and grow, not simply handing them keys and hoping for the best. Because in the end, the goal must be to help people thrive, not just survive. The soaring 22% increase in family homelessness is more than a policy failure. It is a moral failure. Every child left unsheltered, every student forced to do homework from the back seat of a car, represents not only a personal tragedy, but a deepening wound in California’s future. Protecting and prioritizing these children—ensuring they have safety, stability, and the tools to succeed—is not just a political choice. It is a moral imperative. If California fails to act, today’s crisis will grow into tomorrow’s catastrophe, one that will cost the state far more than any investment in prevention ever would. (RELATED: Los Angeles Burns (Again); Is The Golden State Turning Into An Open Air Prison Camp?) With its vast wealth and culture of innovation, California should be leading this charge. But under Gov. Newsom’s leadership, it is falling further behind— sacrificing families on the altar of failed ideology and political expediency. Another Major Hospital Drops Trans Treatments For Kids

By Daily Caller News Foundation reporter Melissa O’Rourke   TAKE THE POLL: CLICK HERE   The Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C., announced on Friday that it would no longer prescribe transgender-related medication to its patients under growing pressure from the Trump administration. Effective Aug. 30, Children’s National will no longer prescribe its patients so-called “gender-affirming” medications — such as puberty blockers and hormone therapy — citing “escalating legal and regulatory risks.” Children’s National is the latest major hospital system to discontinue its transgender-related services offered to minors after the Trump administration vowed to fight what it describes as the “barbaric practice of surgically and chemically maiming and sterilizing children.” (RELATED: USAID Quietly Sent Thousands Of Viruses To Chinese Military-Linked Biolab (DCNF Exclusive)) “We know this change will have a significant impact on affected patients, families and staff. Our care teams are working directly with families of current patients to support them,” the hospital said in its Friday announcement. Children Don’t Have ‘Gender Needs’ In January, the hospital announced that it would pause all puberty blockers and hormone therapy prescriptions to youth following Trump’s executive order eliminating all federal funding for the chemical and surgical mutilation of children and threatened legal consequences for institutions that support the practices. Attorney General Pam Bondi in April directed federal attorneys to investigate and prosecute doctors who perform or attempt to perform sex change surgeries on minors. Children’s National, through its Gender Development Program, has been “supporting the gender needs of youth and their families for the past 20 years,” according to its website. While Children’s National stated in January that it “does not perform gender affirming surgery for minors,” at least two children have undergone transgender-related surgeries at the hospital, according to Do No Harm, an advocacy group fighting back against gender ideology in the medical field. While the hospital system will cease prescribing gender transition-related medications, it will continue to provide “mental health and other support services for LGBT patients.” (RELATED: COVID-19 mRNA Shots Linked To Higher Death Toll Amongst Cancer Patients) Children’s National did not respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment. Other major hospitals, such as the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, have also announced in recent weeks that they will stop providing transgender services to minors, while the Center for Transyouth Health and Development at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles announced that it will be shutting down altogether on July 22. Between 2019 and 2023, U.S. hospitals billed nearly $120 million for transgender procedures carried out on nearly 14,000 minors, according to Do No Harm. WATCH: If You Thought The Moon Landing Was A Conspiracy, This Video Will Mess You Up

An episode of “The Why Files” released a couple of years ago contains arguably one of the best, most mind-bending commentaries on our moon. A.J. Gentile is not an easy man to convince of anything. Where the data flows, he will follow. So what happens when the data starts pointing toward our moon being hollow, possibly a spaceship that was brought here thousands of years ago to stabilize our planet? WARNING: this one will mess you up. From The Why Files: Despite it being humanity’s constant companion through all of recorded time, the moon is still a mystery. Science hasn’t been able to explain how the moon was formed, its unusual orbit, its distance from us, its density, its composition, its structure. These are all still questions. There are theories about the moon that solve some of these puzzles, but not others. There is only one theory that answers every scientific question about the moon. Just one. (RELATED: WATCH: Jimmy Corsetti, Dan Richards Destroy The Mainstream Narrative On Ancient Egypt) That the moon is a hollow, artificial structure, brought here by — someone else. TMM Analysis For years, our EIC Kay Smythe Hill has woken up in the middle of the night wondering about this episode. She shares it with everyone she can because — to-date — no one has been able to dispute the data presented by A.J. and Hecklefish. “There are plenty of discrepancies with the moon landing for anyone with an ounce of common sense to question whether or not we actually went there. Quite frankly, there is more evidence pointing toward us having never visited our moon,” Hill notes. “I wish we could have more faith in our government and scientific community to truly know whether we have visited our moon, but in this day and age it just seems impossible. Maybe one day we will know the truth. For now, I’m going with A.J. and Hecklefish. The moon is hollow and probably a spaceship. I mean, why not?”

Iran Making Clear It’s Not Done Messing With America And Freedom

From Daily Caller News Foundation defense reporter Wallace White. Iran is attempting to rearm its militias across the Middle East after U.S. strikes crippled its nuclear program in June, according to CNN. Tehran has continued to arm the Houthi rebels in Yemen, Hezbollah in Lebanon and its various militias in Iraq and Syria as the Islamic Republic reels from its 12-day-war with Israel and the U.S., which left its nuclear infrastructure and military crippled, according to CNN. While Iran has sustained serious damage from the war, its proxies remain a key arm of its influence over the region as frequent agitators against Israeli and U.S. forces. (RELATED: USAID Quietly Sent Thousands Of Viruses To Chinese Military-Linked Biolab (DCNF Exclusive)) “Iran was never going to stop resupplying their groups,” Michael Knights, a senior fellow at The Washington Institute, told CNN. “They might not be able to send this much or regularly – more stuff might get intercepted – but if you’re the (Iranian) Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force right now, what you’re trying to show is ‘we still exist, we’re intact, nothing has changed.’” A vessel carrying 750 tons of missiles and equipment bound for Yemen was intercepted by exiled Yemeni government loyalists Wednesday, according to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM). Iran denied sending the shipment, saying it was a “deceitful attempt” to incriminate the regime. The Houthis have regularly launched attacks against Israel, with the Israeli Air Force mostly recently hitting Houthi targets Monday in response to the strikes. The rebels also have imperiled international shipping through the Red Sea, which prompted a U.S. bombing campaign in March. Increased Attacks On Western Entities, Personnel Suspected Iranian-backed groups in Iraq have increased their attacks on Western entities and personnel in the nation, mostly recently hitting five oil fields with drone strikes, Aziz Ahmad, a Kurdish Regional Government official, said on X on Wednesday. Two of the oil fields were owned by U.S. companies, according to CNN. (RELATED: COVID-19 mRNA Shots Linked To Higher Death Toll Amongst Cancer Patients) In Lebanon, Hezbollah has received waning support from Iran after the December 2024 fall of the former Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria and Israel’s 2024 killing of the militant group’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah. Hezbollah is a key ally to Hamas in its post-Oct. 7 war with Israel, regularly engaging with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in skirmishes on the border. Hamas has also been met with relative silence from their Iranian allies in the wake of Tehran’s brief war with Israel. What Is Syria Up To? Meanwhile, the new government in Syria — formerly a key thoroughfare for Tehran’s weapons transfers to allied terrorist groups — has seized Iranian shipments of arms to Hezbollah over the past year, according to CNN. Iran agreed Monday to meet in Istanbul, Turkey, on Friday with France, Germany and the U.K. to discuss Tehran’s nuclear program. The European nations threatened Iran with renewed sanctions if there was not any movement on talks regarding its nuclear ambitions. The Iranian Foreign Ministry did not respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.

Newsom’s Press Office Attacks Victims Of Palisades Fire For Demanding Answers

Star of ‘The Hills’ Spencer Pratt and his wife Heidi Montag filed a lawsuit against California and the City of Los Angeles over the Pacific Palisades fire, leading to a dark confrontation with the press office of California Gov. Gavin Newsom. The lawsuit filed in July includes more than 20 other property owners who lost their homes during the Palisades Fire that started on January 7, 2025, and was only contained on January 31 after burning through more than 23,448 acres, according to CBS and Los Angeles Fire Department. The complaint alleges that Los Angeles municipal water department are to blame for the issues in actually getting water to the burn zone. pic.twitter.com/2N2Qypij1V — Wall Street Apes (@WallStreetApes) July 14, 2025 Gavin Newsom’s Press Office Goes Off The Rails? Newsom’s press office issued a statement on X that appears to be against Pratt and his wife, calling them “C-list reality TV stars” and calling out “anonymous Twitter accounts” who the Governor and his office clearly think are spreading “misinformation” about the situation, whereas the lawsuit came as a result of no one receiving answers as to why this disaster was not mitigated — particularly given California’s ongoing risk for wildfires. Calling a concerned resident who lost his home to the Palisades Fire ‘C-list’ for demanding answers? That’s not leadership. That’s shameful. I’ll continue to speak up for my home town and I’ll see you in court.” Newsom’s Leadership Called Into Question More than 100 people replied to Pratt’s post (at the time of writing) while hundreds more liked it, and more than 700 “liked it,” while Newsom’s office decided to double-down on their stance. (RELATED: Newsom Appears To Stealth Launch Campaign For Presidency) “Losing your home is heartbreaking. No one should have to go through that, and we’re fully committed to supporting you and your community in recovering. Period,” his office replied. “But that pain doesn’t give you license to mislead your neighbors with completely fabricated conspiracy theories. You’ve been spreading false information that’s scaring people and actively hurting the very community you claim to speak for. And now — thanks to your videos — a proposal to help fire victims rebuild is dead. Well done.” Newsom’s Leadership Called Into Question More than 100 people replied to Pratt’s post (at the time of writing) while hundreds more liked it, and more than 700 “liked it,” while Newsom’s office decided to double-down on their stance. “Losing your home is heartbreaking. Newsom Destroyed In The Comments People who spoke to Million Voices on strict condition of anonymity claimed that this type of behavior is exactly what everyone should expect of Newsom and his leadership. Well done,’” replied another. “So – just to clarify, you’re killing a proposal to help fire victims because of Spencer’s posts and videos? How pathetic. How amateur. How weak.” Newsom’s press office is paid for by taxpayer dollars as part of the state budget. DAVID BLACKMON: Trump’s Big, Beautiful Bill Spells Bad News For Renewables

Written by David Blackmon for Daily Caller News Foundation A new report from big energy data and analytics firm Enverus finds that the rapid elimination of subsidies for wind and solar contained in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act of 2025 (OBBBA) is likely to have major impacts on those industries. The report finds that just 30% of solar projects currently proposed or in development and 57% of wind projects will be able to survive as the subsidies and tax breaks phase out by 2030. These findings are the latest in a string of bad news for the U.S. renewables sector since the inauguration of President Donald Trump in January. On July 16 it was reported via a leaked internal memo that proposed wind and solar projects must now obtain signoff from Interior Secretary Doug Burgum before they can begin development of new projects across tens of millions of acres of federal lands or on the federal offshore waters. (RELATED: California Dems Blame Wildfires On Trump After Their Party Created Tinderbox Of Regs) These findings are the latest in a string of bad news for the U.S. renewables sector since the inauguration of President Donald Trump in January. On July 16 it was reported via a leaked internal memo that proposed wind and solar projects must now obtain signoff from Interior Secretary Doug Burgum before they can begin development of new projects across tens of millions of acres of federal lands or on the federal offshore waters. ‘Dead In The Water’ In an interview, the author of the Enverus report, Enverus Energy Research Analyst Corianna Mah, told me she and her team limited their analysis to onshore wind and solar projects. “We did not analyze offshore wind,” she said, adding, “We believe it’s already dead in the water due to the high interconnection costs and supply chain inflation.” Notably, the report finds that the state which leads the nation in installed capacity for both wind and solar generation, Texas, ranks as the state which will see the lowest percentage of solar projects currently in the interconnection queue on the state grid managed by ERCOT – just 6% – will now be able to survive through completion. This compares to survival rates of 40% for Illinois solar, 41% in Indiana, and near-100% survival rates in both California and Arizona. Energy Realities Top 10 Issues hitting the Energy Markets this Week https://t.co/789FHiPiXw — David Blackmon’s Energy Absurdity (@EnergyAbsurdity) July 21, 2025 When I asked what factors would account for such a wide disparity, Mah said it is all driven by the respective values in each state for Renewable Energy Certificates, or RECs. These are marketable instruments that enable individuals or companies to support renewable energy without having to build their own projects. “Texas has met and surpassed its RPS (Renewable Portfolio Standard) targets,” she said, “and its RECs – now used primarily for voluntary compliance – trade at a steep discount, around $3/MWh, compared to other markets, like CAISO, where RECs command $20-$30/MWh due to mandatory compliance requirements.” (RELATED: Energy Department Admits Millions Of Americans Are At Risk Thanks To Grid Vulnerabilities) Mah’s report finds that Texas also ranks among the states with the lowest percentages of onshore wind projects expected to survive through completion, along with Iowa and Illinois, for the same reason. But, the report adds, “All evaluated wind projects in Montana and most in Oklahoma” are expected to make it into production.” The Enverus findings are consistent with findings from a study by FTI Consulting Sr. Director Dan Goodwin, which also finds wind and solar taking a significant hit from the provisions in the OBBBA. Energy Security? Coming as it does during a time of surging power demand driven by rapidly evolving AI technologies and their accompanying datacenters, this looming shortfall in anticipated wind and solar capacity must now be more than offset by rapid expansions in more traditional baseload generation. FTI’s study projects most of that need will be met by gas-fired generation in the near-to-mid-term, with more nuclear generation coming online in the out years. This week’s unveiling of $92 billion in new private sector investments to develop the nation’s largest AI datacenter hub outside Pittsburgh, PA, appears to confirm that assessment. One thing is for sure: It’s all a huge balancing act with major implications for America’s future energy security. So-Called ‘Equality Act’ Could Undo Free Speech, Mandate Murder Of Unborn Children, Make Pedophiles A ‘Protected Class’

A bill positioned as the “Equality Act” is gradually moving its way through Congress, and is designed to “crush moral decency and religious freedom beneath the feet of the radical LGBT & Q lobby,” says experts. We included all of the Equality Act details we feel you need to know about. The so-called “Equality Act” aims to make abortion a federal right, and seeks to punish anyone (particularly Christians and other religious institutions) that do not promote the murder of unborn children, according to the bill language and analysis by Liberty Counsel Action. (RELATED: ‘Separation Of Church And State Is A Lie’: Legal Precedent Collapses Bringing Religious Freedom To US) The bill is being called a “dangerous ambush of religious freedoms,” and may also allow pedophiles to become a “protected class” under the specific language used. Normalizing Abuse Of Children This abhorrent attack against children comes from the “Q” in the LGBTQ definition of sexual orientation, which Cosmopolitan described as “Queerness is an umbrella term that is both an orientation and a community. … The vagueness of the term is intentional— queer is an identity created for anyone outside of the heterosexual norm and meant to be inclusive.” LGBTQ Nation added in their analysis that “… the Q in LGBTQ can also signify other sexual orientations and genders not covered by the acronym’s preceding letters. If you’re gender-neutral, non-binary, agender, genderfluid, pansexual, asexual, solosexual or something else not covered by LGBT, the Q has got you covered!” (RELATED: IRS Rules Churches Can Endorse Candidates To Congregation) There is also a revolting movement trying to rebrand pedophiles as “minor-attracted people,” which would also pretty much guarantee their protection under the bill. And things only get worse when you break down the rest of the bill. Liberty Action Counsel Analysis: Among other things, the “Equality Act” will mean that: Biological men will have the “right” to use women’s bathrooms, showers and locker rooms — even in schools. Churches will be forced to provide equal access to LGBTQ ceremonies if the facilities are open to natural marriage ceremonies. Churches and religious schools would be forced to hire staff involved in LGBTQ conduct; give men access to restrooms, locker rooms, showers and sports; allow boys to bunk with girls on camping and overnight trips; and provide insurance to cover hormones, mutilating surgeries, and chemical and surgical abortions. Noncompliant churches and schools will lose federal, state, and local tax exemptions and accreditations. From pre-K, children will be taught that they can choose their gender, will be encouraged to experiment with each other to find their “identities” and will be able to demand opposite, both and neither sex pronouns (he for a girl, zie for neither, mx for both). Pregnancy centers will be forced to provide abortion referrals. Read The Full ‘Equality Act’ Here

NYC Mayoral Candidate Zohran Mamdani’s Comments on Domestic Violence Spark Outrage from Abuse Survivors

This article was written by John Zambenini for WokeSpy. Communist New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani continues to receive backlash online, this time from victims of domestic violence. Recently, Mamdani provoked the ire of domestic violence victims by opposing police responding to domestic violence incidents. According to the CDC, one in four women and one in ten men experience some form of domestic violence in their lifetime, ranging from stalking, mental abuse, to physical abuse, and life-threatening injuries involving knives and firearms. However, the Mamdani does not believe that armed police should respond to these situations. Horrifying Potential Future For Victims In NYC “Police do not create safety… there are so many responsibilities we’ve given to police that, frankly, should have nothing to do with their departments… if somebody is jaywalking, if somebody is surviving, going through domestic violence—there are so many different, different situations that would be far better handled by people trained to deal with those specific situations, as opposed to an individual with a gun,” he said, according to the Washington Free Beacon. (RELATED: Wealthy White Liberals Reportedly Urge Democrats To ‘Be Willing To Get Shot’ Opposing Trump) It is highly unlikely, however, that marriage counselors are the best choice for first-time responders when a spouse is being held at gunpoint. According to Victims Rights Reform Council founder, Michelle Esquenazi, domestic violence is often a life and death situation. It remains unclear how mental health counselors and social workers would be able to respond to a spouse holding their partner captive at gunpoint or knifepoint – as Mamdani would want. Victims Must Not Support Mamdani “There’s a lot of humans who are victims in the city of New York, and they need protection because sometimes it’s a matter of life and death,” Esquenazi told Fox News Digital. “They’re hiding in the bathroom with their children, and they need someone to come immediately.” Esquenazi claims that Mamdani’s statements affect her personally, as the New York Police Department (NYPD) saved her life when her ex-husband attacked her while she was pregnant in 1993. “I called 911, and they came running. They made sure that me and my children, and I was pregnant at the time, were safe. One of the officers took us to a back bedroom and made sure that we were calmed down and made sure that we had what we needed.
