Top 10 States That Took in the Most Refugees
The United States continues to bring in thousands of refugees every year through the official U.S. Refugee Admissions Program. At the same time, the Trump administration has imposed new travel restrictions and entry bans on countries that officials link to security or terrorism concerns. Because of this, many people want to know how many refugees still arrive from those restricted nations and which states take in the most. According to the FY 2025 report “Arrivals by State and Nationality” from the U.S. Refugee Processing Center, a total of 38,102 refugees were admitted. These were legally admitted refugees, not illegal border crossers or other migrant categories. Top 10 States That Took in the Most Refugees The same federal report shows that refugee resettlement is not spread evenly across the country. Instead, a small group of states takes in most of the arrivals. Here are the top ten states by number of refugees received in FY 2025: 1. Texas – 3,923 2. California – 3,044 3. New York – 2,438 4. Florida – 1,513 5. Pennsylvania – 1,504 6. Ohio – 1,500 7. Illinois – 1,454 8. Georgia – 1,442 9. Minnesota – 1,337 10. Washington – 1,320 These ten states alone account for a large share of all refugees who arrived in the country last fiscal year. This makes them key destinations in any national discussion about refugee policy and resettlement. More Stories Drowning in Bills? These Debt Solutions Could Be the Break You Need Out-of-Town Renters Are Driving Up Demand in These Five Cities Under Siege: My Family’s Fight to Save Our Nation – Book Review & Analysis Which Countries Face Bans or Restrictions? In June 2025, the Trump administration issued Proclamation 10949, which restricts or bans entry from 19 countries. Twelve nations face a broad suspension of entry, while seven others face partial restrictions on certain visa types or categories. The restricted list includes Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, the Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela. While the policy targets security risks, the refugee program still allows some people from these countries to enter after extensive vetting and under specific exceptions. How Many Refugees Came From Restricted Countries? According to the 2025 FY Refugee Processing Center report, 21,105 refugees were admitted from the 19 countries that now face full or partial entry bans or restrictions under the Trump administration. Afghanistan led all countries with 6,758 refugees, while Venezuela followed with 4,589. Burma contributed 3,547 refugees, and Somalia added another 2,496. This number highlights a critical tension. On one hand, the federal government has tightened travel rules for certain countries. On the other hand, the United States has admitted tens of thousands of people fleeing war, persecution, and instability from those same regions. As debates over immigration and national security continue, these facts help show what is really happening on the ground in our refugee program. The Takeaway More than 21,000 refugees arrived in the United States in the last year from countries the Trump administration classifies as high-risk or dangerous. These individuals entered through the legal refugee pipeline, but the sheer volume underscores why public awareness matters. The recent National Guard attack in Washington, D.C. shows why vigilance is essential — even with vetting systems in place, dangerous individuals can still slip through, proving that current screening has not fully protected American citizens from those who choose to do harm. As a populace, we must understand the scale of these arrivals, stay informed about federal resettlement decisions, and remain aware of who is entering our towns and cities. Awareness is not fear — it is responsibility. By knowing the facts, communities can better protect their values, their safety, and their future. Where does your state stand? Expose the Spin. Dallas ICE Office Attack Sparks Grief and Political Uproar
Dallas woke up to tragedy on September 24, 2025. A gunman climbed onto a rooftop and opened fire on the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office. Three detainees were hit, and at least one died. The shooter then turned the gun on himself and didn’t survive. Investigators say this wasn’t random. They believe the attack was planned and directed at ICE officers. Now, federal, state, and local officials are digging for answers, trying to figure out why this happened and whether anyone else was involved. Who Was Behind the Gun? Authorities identified the shooter as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn. He didn’t just lash out in the heat of the moment. Police say he etched anti-ICE slogans onto his bullets, making his motive clear. That’s why investigators are treating this as more than just another crime — it looks like an ideologically driven attack. Officers searched two homes tied to Jahn — one in Fairview, Texas, and another in Durant, Oklahoma. They’re going through computers, phones, and personal records to learn what pushed him to do this and if he had help. How the Attack Happened Officials say Jahn fired “indiscriminately” from the roof. He hit the ICE building, broke through windows and lobby walls, and fired into a van transporting detainees. One of those detainees lost their life. Two more are fighting to recover in the hospital. Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons said this was more than an attack on detainees — it was a direct strike on law enforcement itself. He warned that bullets could have hit lawyers, visitors, or even drivers on Interstate 35, which runs close to the facility. (MORE NEWS: Utah Arrests: Explosive Device Found Under Fox News Vehicle) Lyons spoke with Fox News’ Martha MacCallum: Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons: “The ICE facility itself was a target… He was just firing at ICE vehicles… It wasn’t directed at the detainees.. wasn’t directed at civilians on the street. It was a definite attack on law enforcement. He was there to attack that building.”… pic.twitter.com/nhPiQcp2wt — RedWave Press (@RedWave_Press) September 24, 2025 Political Firestorm The shooting immediately sparked political reaction. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said the attack was “deliberate” and warned that heated rhetoric aimed at ICE officers is dangerous. She called out comparisons that paint ICE agents as secret police, saying that kind of language makes them targets. For months, we’ve been warning politicians and the media to tone down their rhetoric about ICE law enforcement before someone was killed. These horrendous killings must serve as a wake-up call to the far-left that their rhetoric about ICE has consequences. Comparing ICE Day-in… — Secretary Kristi Noem (@Sec_Noem) September 24, 2025 President Trump went even further. He blamed “Radical Left Democrats” for fueling anti-ICE hatred and promised an executive order to crack down on domestic terrorism groups. He pointed to the messages written on Jahn’s bullets as proof the shooting was politically charged. Texas Senator Ted Cruz agreed, saying this is the third shooting in Texas directed at ICE or CBP: This needs to stop. Politicians using rhetoric that demonizes ICE and CBP need to stop. pic.twitter.com/NlcePjtD4Q — Ted Cruz (@tedcruz) September 24, 2025 Dallas Responds Closer to home, Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson urged the city to pray for our nation and for the city of Dallas. He said that believes in the power of prayer and that prayer changes things. Republican Mayor of Dallas Eric Johnson opened the press conference on the ICE facility shooting with a powerful call to prayer. Tensions ran high, but local leaders stressed the need for level heads and cooperation. (MORE NEWS: Kilmar Abrego Garcia and the Deep Immigration Divide) Bigger Pattern of Violence Sadly, this isn’t the first time ICE has faced violence. Over the last year, threats against immigration facilities and border agents have been on the rise. Experts warn that when public debate turns toxic, it can encourage unstable individuals to lash out. Border Czar Tom Homan weighs in on the Charlie Kirk Show: .@RealTomHoman: This morning, a gunman was targeting an ICE facility in Dallas, Texas… it’s the third shooting that’s occurred in Texas against immigration officials… This is clearly a targeted attack against ICE. pic.twitter.com/c0aQ2EsHAr — Rapid Response 47 (@RapidResponse47) September 24, 2025 The Dallas field office wasn’t built for long-term detention. It’s mainly a holding and processing center. ICE rules say detainees should not be kept there for more than 12 hours. But its busy role, combined with its location near major roads, makes it especially vulnerable. It isn’t just agents at risk. Civilians, lawyers, and visitors are all exposed if someone decides to attack. What Happens Next Investigators now have several big questions to answer. They’re combing through Jahn’s digital trail to see what groups he followed or talked to online. They’re reviewing his travel, finances, and social connections. And they’re asking whether he radicalized quickly or if this had been building for years. At the same time, ICE and DHS are looking hard at their security. Do facilities need better barriers? More surveillance? Stronger partnerships with local police? Those decisions could come soon. The political side won’t cool off either. Republicans are pressing for stronger protections for ICE officers. Democrats are trying to strike a balance, condemning violence while still debating immigration policy. What everyone agrees on is this: nobody wants to see another day like this. A Community Left to Heal Dallas is now dealing with both grief and fear. Families of the victims are facing unimaginable loss. ICE employees are shaken, knowing they were directly in the crosshairs. And an already divided nation is once again reminded of how dangerous…
Texas House Passes “One Big Beautiful Map” in GOP Victory
The Texas House approved a sweeping new congressional redistricting plan on Wednesday. Republicans call it “One Big Beautiful Map.” In an 88–52 party-line vote, lawmakers passed House Bill 4, a plan designed to strengthen GOP control and deliver up to five additional congressional seats ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. Governor Greg Abbott praised the win on X. “Congrats to the Texas House on passing the One Big Beautiful Map. It will make Texas, and Congress, a brighter shade of Red.” House Speaker Dustin Burrows said, “The Texas House today delivered legislation to redistrict certain congressional districts to address concerns raised by the Department of Justice and ensure fairness and accuracy in Texans’ representation in Congress… This work has helped us deliver the legal, remedied maps Texas voters deserve.” Rep. Tony Tinderholt framed the outcome more bluntly: “Democrats broke quorum to try and stop us—but they FAILED. Texas now has a big, beautiful map, legally adding 5 more Republican seats.” Democrats broke quorum to try and stop us—but they FAILED. Tony Tinderholt (@reptinderholt) August 20, 2025 The Map Democrats Couldn’t Stop The new map redraws districts in Dallas, Houston, and other fast-growing areas. Republicans say it ensures fairness, accuracy, and compliance with federal requirements. Democrats tried to delay or derail the measure with a dozen amendments, including one pushing implementation to 2028 and another tying it to an independent redistricting commission. One amendment even attempted to block the map until the federal government released unrelated files about Jeffrey Epstein. All were defeated. (RELATED NEWS: Texas Dems Flee to Stop Redistricting Map) Republicans stayed united, rejecting every amendment and moving HB 4 to a quick vote. Conservatives say the map will “ungerrymander the gerrymandered” and help secure a stronger GOP majority in Washington. The Walkout That Backfired The vote followed the dramatic return of Democratic lawmakers who fled Texas two weeks earlier to block the bill. More than 50 Democrats traveled to Chicago to deny the House a quorum, halting business in Austin. Their absence drew national headlines, but the tactic failed. During the standoff, Speaker Burrows issued arrest warrants for absent members. He warned that Democrats who came back would only be allowed to leave the chamber under strict conditions, including release into the custody of Department of Public Safety officers who would ensure their return. Rep. Nicole Collier refused to sign the required permission slip and camped out in the chamber instead of going home. The walkout also carried financial costs. Democrats faced $500 fines for each missed day and had their pay withheld. By the time they returned, pressure from penalties and threats of arrest forced them back into the chamber, where Republicans swiftly advanced the map. Governor Abbott is now calling for added penalties and punishments for legislators who willfully leave during a session. Will they face prosecution? Attorney General Ken Paxton says, “We made that argument about 13 of the legislators… and we will be in front of the Texas Supreme Court.” WILL TX DEMS WHO FLED THE REDISTRICTING FIGHT FACE PROSECTUION?@KenPaxtonTX: “We made that argument about 13 of the legislators… and we will be in front of the Texas Supreme Court.” pic.twitter.com/Q2ymO9b6tz — The Will Cain Show (@WillCainShow_) August 20, 2025 Democrats Spin, Republicans Deliver Texas House Democratic Caucus Chair Gene Wu tried to cast the quorum break as a success, claiming it “rallied Democrats nationwide” and “reshaped the 2026 landscape.” But Republicans say the numbers tell the real story: Democrats delayed the inevitable and returned to pass the very map they tried to block. Conservatives frame the episode as proof of GOP discipline. Democrats relied on theatrics, while Republicans held the line, complied with legal requirements, and delivered results. What’s Next The bill still needs a vote from the full Texas Senate, but it is expected to pass overwhelmingly. Democrats will undoubtedly challenge the map in court, claiming it discriminates against minority voters. Republicans say HB 4 is constitutional, remedies DOJ concerns, and will stand up to scrutiny. (MORE NEWS: Phone Scrolling: The Top 10 States and Hidden Costs) For conservatives, the fight was about more than lines on a map. It also showed how far Democrats will go to block legislation. Texas Dems Flee to Stop Redistricting Map
In a high-stakes political standoff, dozens of Texas House Democrats fled the state on Sunday to block a scheduled vote on a redistricting proposal that could significantly favor Republicans. Their departure leaves the House without the quorum required to conduct official business and has ignited fierce legal and political backlash from state leaders. The group of Democrats flew to Chicago, where they held a press conference with Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker. Over 50 members have left Texas, effectively paralyzing House operations. The redistricting plan, introduced last week by Texas House Republicans, could deliver up to five additional Republican U.S. House seats in the 2026 midterm elections by reshaping districts in key Democratic areas such as Dallas and Houston. Republicans currently hold 25 of Texas’ 38 congressional seats. The new map has already drawn national attention, including threats of legal action from House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who vowed to pursue “all options” to stop the GOP redistricting plan. (MORE NEWS: ICE Cooperation Gets CO Deputy Sued By AG) Texas GOP Response Texas Governor Greg Abbott responded with a scathing letter, blasting the fleeing lawmakers for what he called a premeditated attempt to shut down the legislative process. “Real Texans do not run from a fight. But that’s exactly what most of the Texas House Democrats just did,” Abbott wrote. He emphasized that this wasn’t an unavoidable absence due to emergencies or illness, but rather a deliberate effort to obstruct the legislative process. “That amounts to an abandonment or forfeiture of an elected state office… The absconded Democrat House members were elected to meet and vote on legislation—not to prevent votes that may not go their way.” Abbott cited Texas Attorney General Opinion No. KP-0382, suggesting that Democratic members who broke quorum could be removed from office through legal action. He stated his intent to invoke his authority under the Texas Constitution to fill vacancies if courts determine the seats were abandoned. Threats of Arrest and Legal Fallout Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton doubled down, threatening to arrest the absent Democrats over what he called civil violations of legislative duty. “They should be found and arrested no matter where they go,” Paxton said. Democrats in the Texas House who try and run away like cowards should be found, arrested, and brought back to the Capitol immediately. We should use every tool at our disposal to hunt down those who think they are above the law. — Attorney General Ken Paxton (@KenPaxtonTX) August 3, 2025 The Governor also warned that Democrats fundraising to cover potential fines might be in violation of state bribery laws. According to the letter, any legislator or outside party offering or accepting money to facilitate absenteeism could face criminal charges. “Any Democrat who solicits or accepts funds to skip a vote may have violated bribery laws,” Abbott wrote. “I will use my full extradition authority to demand the return to Texas of any potential out-of-state felons.” Illinois Governor Defends Democrats At the Chicago press conference, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker pledged support for the Texas Democrats. “They’re here in Illinois. We’re going to do everything we can to protect every single one of them and make sure that — ’cause we know they’re doing the right thing, we know that they’re following the law,” Pritzker said. He also criticized Texas officials for their threats and actions. “It’s Ken Paxton who doesn’t follow the law. It’s the leaders of Texas who are attempting not to follow the law. They’re the ones that need to be held accountable.” High Stakes and Political Theater Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin expressed full support for the fleeing lawmakers, accusing Republicans of attempting to rig the system. “For too long, Donald Trump and Republicans have tried to get away with rigging the system, breaking the rules, and scheming to hold onto power,” Martin said. “We will fight alongside these legislators to stop this anti-democratic assault.” We’ve been warning Texas Republicans for weeks that if they want a showdown, we’d give them a showdown. Faith Leaders ‘Say Amen’ As Senator Predicts Legal Victories For Ten Commandments In Texas
Faith and political leaders alike are speaking up in support of returning the Ten Commandments to schools across Texas in July, despite lawsuits trying to stop this historical document from being taught to children. Senate Bill 10 passed earlier this year, mandating that all Texas classrooms display the Ten Commandments as they are seen across the state, particularly on the grounds of the Austin capitol grounds. The Ten Commandments, aside from being the foundation of law and human behavior across Western civilization for the last 3,000 years, are also part of America’s foundational history. (RELATED: EXCLUSIVE: Sen. King Explains How Texas Is Bringing Biblical Values Of Our Founding Fathers Back To Schools LEGALLY) These core laws for life were taught as part of a normal curriculum since before America became a nation, and were only removed roughly 50 years ago thanks to a short-lived legal precedent by the Supreme Court, which was overturned in 2022. What Are Pastors Saying? “As for me I would say that posting the Ten Commandments in the schools will truly promote moral values, provide a historical and cultural context for law and ethics and offer a framework for ethical behavior for the future generation,” pastor Mariya James of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Weatherford told the Weatherford Democrat in July. “Prohibitions against murder, theft, adultery and false testimony are foundational to any functioning society,” he continued. “And this must be reminded to the students often for a healthier society. … The absence of moral guidance in schools could lead to negative consequences, including a disregard for morality and an increase in anti-social behavior.” “It goes back so far,” Northside Baptist Church retired Rev. Van Houser told the same outlet. “These have been the basic tenets for many, many, many generations and civilizations. So I think in that regard they stand as something visual for children to be reminded of, things that regard common decency and basic tenets.” Lawsuits Sue To Stop Ten Commandments Displays The American Civil Liberties Union of Texas filed a suit against Senate Bill 10 in July, claiming that the new law violates the religious rights of students, despite the document technically being historical — not faith based in the context of the Texas law. “The lawsuit is no surprise,” Sen. Phil King told the Fort Worth Report while he voiced a prediction of victory against the ACLU’s position in the suit. “That’s what the left does.” “I feel very confident, if there is a lawsuit on the Texas Ten Commandments, that the Supreme Court will uphold our statute,” King said prior to the lawsuit, a sentiment he echoed in conversation with Million Voices earlier in the year. (EXCLUSIVE: ‘Stand Firm’ Says Sen. Dotson On Bringing The Ten Commandments To Classrooms) “It’s so popular,” King added of the public reaction to the law. “I can’t tell you how many people I’ve run into that bring it up. I think the general public is very excited about it.” “When we were kids, the Ten Commandments were in public buildings,” he clarified. “It was in schools. Everybody just recognized that was just a wonderful statement of morality. It was something that we were taught from day one, just like the Golden Rule.” Legal Precedent For Success Along with the overturning of multiple laws related to the removal of historical religious texts and practices from the public square, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott fought in 2005 to keep the Ten Commandments on the grounds of the state capitol. (RELATED: ‘Separation Of Church And State Is A Lie’: Legal Precedent Collapses Bringing Religious Freedom To US) Abbott won this argument when it landed all the way up in the Supreme Court, so there is huge context for any lawsuits against the Ten Commandments to lose in the country’s highest court. How To Get Involved In Bringing The Ten Commandments Back To Schools Million Voices is the instrumental leader in creating a means of you, our readers, members, and even folks who are only finding us for the first time, to bring the Ten Commandments back to classrooms. Even though there are lawsuits trying to stop the implementation of the posters of the Ten Commandments in classrooms, every classroom can still legally display the posters. But we can’t do it without your help. For generations, schools displayed the Ten Commandments to promote basic moral values—like respect, honesty, and personal responsibility. They weren’t just religious—they were viewed as a foundation for good citizenship and character. Though many were removed after a 1980 Supreme Court ruling, states are now restoring the right to display them again. With your help, we’re putting them back—one school at a time. Democrat Teasing Possible Run For Office Thinks Fourth Time May Be The Charm
by Hudson Crozier for the Daily Caller News Foundation A thrice-failed Democratic political candidate is considering taking on a Republican Senate seat in a consistently right-leaning state if voters want him to. Former Texas Democratic Rep. Beto O’Rourke said at a town hall in Denton, Texas, on Saturday that he would be open to launching a new Senate campaign for the 2026 midterm elections. Republican Sen. John Cornyn is running to hold onto his Senate seat against state Attorney General Ken Paxton, while no Democrats have entered the race so far. “If it comes to pass that this is what the people of Texas want, that it’s the highest and best use of what I can give to you, then yes, I will,” O’Rourke said when asked about a potential Senate run. “We’ll see what the future holds, but I’m going to do whatever is the greatest good for the greatest number in this state,” O’Rourke later told local news outlet WFAA. He said he is focused on running the liberal PAC Powered By People he founded in 2019. O’Rourke served as a House member from Texas between 2013 and 2019. The former representative ran unsuccessfully for Senate in 2018, dropped out of a presidential race in 2019 and lost a race for Texas governor in 2022 but took to the stage to stoke enthusiasm for the Democratic Party. He lost the 2018 election to Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas by 2.6 percentage points and the 2022 election to Republican Gov. Greg Abbott by 11. O’Rourke did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation. (MORE NEWS: Tracy Beanz Reveals MAHA’s Mission & What Comes Next In Fascinating Interview) The former candidate also spent the town hall criticizing President Donald Trump, specifically accusing him of persecuting transgender people in response to a question from a trans-identifying town hall attendee. “The way that these tinpot dictators, these wannabe tyrants, these authoritarians work is they try to pick the most vulnerable among us, the people that they hope you do not want to be associated with,” O’Rourke said. He then pivoted to Trump should respect “the rule of law” and “due process” before deporting alleged gang members to El Salvador prisons. “What you do to the least of us unchecked will happen to the rest of us pretty soon,” O’Rourke said. O’Rourke brought the transgender attendee up on stage and declared support, saying, “We’re going to stand with one another” as the crowd gave a standing ovation. Get News. Take Action.
